ESPINOSA [6/13/2008 7:56:13 PM] : I thinks its all in the attitude and your self esteem. nobody likes to be around a person with an negative attitude because then that makes the person physically ugly. You know what i mean?
FILMGY [3/5/2008 9:59:06 AM] : Nicole, Welcome to the real world. The term professional is not easily attained. There are two worlds ...the real world and the cyber world. Modeling professionally does have very specific criteria. Most of the cyber models haven't a clue at how difficult it is and what is required. Almost all are in denial at what is necessary. I am at this moment writting a book about this subject because cyber modeling has become a new entity in the industry. The height requirements for runway has to do mostly with the designers. Ask them why they choose tall models. It has to do with how there designs look on a tall skinny model as compared to a short model. As for beauty...you don't get it. Most of the models in cyber world are beautiful. Your quite beautiful. Beauty is not the issue. Are you photogenic? Are you responsible? Are you serious or just having fun? Do you have sizzle in front of the camera or does the photog just snap your image? I hate to break it to you but a lot of this is being at the right place at the right time. If you're not out there everyday then you're probebly home waiting by the phone. (I don't mean you honey..I'm saying just in general) All models get frustrated over various obsticles but professionals overcome obsticles...that's not modeling...that's life. Two years ago I started testing with countless "I wanna be a model"s. Where are they today....??? Now it's a new crop saying the same thing all over again. Remember the economy is in terrible shape right now so the jobs are hard to find. So if you are frustrated walk into Ford, Whilhelmina's, IMG's, and talk to models who's portfolios are awesome I mean just absolutely breathtaking. Many will tell you they are having a hard time. Nicole...I hope to hear how you are doing a year from now. Best of luck. Richie www.thewilsonimages.com
DRAYTON [3/3/2008 3:13:38 PM] : Hi! I think Jamie Lynn sad it best! I think if you know you are the best then you will be the best and yes their are some Top Models out their that are short but if you have a high spirt about your self then the agency will too!!!!
JJCHASE [2/2/2008 11:51:19 PM] : the height requirement is largely for runway models becuase clothes designers think their clothes hang better on someone tall than someone short, but as far as print goes height doesn't matter because the camera has no idea how tall you are,its your attitude that will make the difference.
AMBER ROBERTS [1/20/2008 5:00:59 AM] : I do believe you only have to be 5'7 or taller to do runway, other then that like print/commercail work I think you gotta be around 5'5 or so.
JAMIE LYNN [1/20/2008 12:08:13 AM] : Hi everyone, First of all whoever came up with that rumor needs to be shot,it's not true!I'm only 5'6 and I am a professional model.I've done calendars, magazines and have many more offers coming in as we speak. If you are serious about modeling there is something out there for you,it might not be in New York on the runways but it might be in Miami on the beach or in LA.Thats what everyones problem is that they say oh I'm too short so I can't be a "professional" model or I'm too ugly.Get over it and start searching for the modeling thats right for you because lets face it if you're not 5'8 you'll never do the runway but you might be able to do something else.
RAGDOLL [1/13/2008 8:35:23 PM] : I know what you mean. I'm only 5'5. You have to be 5'8 or something to be a professional model. I guess if your smaller they don't see you as a professional. I've always thought it was stupied. I want to be on America's next top model, but I have to be 5'7. Isn't Kate Moss 5'6, and was a runway model?
NICOLE [ 1/12/2008 2:14:27 AM ] : Hello, I am very fustrated with the fact that to be considered a "Top Model", you have to meet this height requirement of 5'8" +. This really disturbs me. I have seen so many beautiful, talented and serious models who do not meet this requirement but have so much potential to be one. It is as though you cannot be considered beautiful in the modeling industry because of your height, and set to limitations that I find many surpass! What do you all think of this? Nicole
