Blog : General / Scam Alert

LIESBETH [9/27/2008 6:26:43 AM] : Update: After we spoke on the phone, i emailed him a couple of days later asking him some questions. Well he could only reply me telling me i shouldn't listen what other ppl write online. For the rest he did not answer my questions, like what's his businessname, adress, references etc. And how funny the same day they deleted their account on musecube. (and they have done that before). I think this says enough!! Becarefull with this person. He only talks crap. I know his name and numbers if needed.
LIESBETH [9/16/2008 3:19:49 PM] : I've also been contacted by this 'designer' I've already spoken to him a couple of months ago before i went back to Holland. He wanted me to come to NC to meet him. (he suppose to have there an office, but i had not time and went back to Europe. Now i've been contacted last week by his assistant. I called them in USA. I remembered it was the same guy i've spoken to while in NY. He is a custom women shoe designer. he wants to fly me over to NY in about 2 weeks to do his jeans collection. He also comes out with a lingerie line. He emailed me info about him and i did a search of him on google. He also send me pictures. I wonder what i should do to find out he's for real.
WEBMASTER [ 10/18/2008 10:26:46 AM ] : This message is intended for all members of the system who are about to embark on the exciting world of modeling, photography, casting, and other related entertainment endeavours. One of the most important things that everyone asks, is whether (or not) a specific agency or producer is "real". I have seen too many naive people get taken advantage of, lied to, and worse. So here are some simple things you should do to avoid running into scam artists: 1. Make sure the person you're about to visit has a real office. Reputable producers or agencies are multi-person companies, typically having secretaries, assistants, and so on. Don't get fooled by "working-from-home" agencies or producers. 2. Never invite these folks to your home. I can not imagine any possible reason why a producer or agency would need to visit you at your home. 3. Never meet any of these folks outside of the office environment. I have heard some pretty good excuses, such as -- "the office is being redecorated, painted, renovated", etc. 99% of the time - these excuses are lies. 4. Make sure you contact (in person is best) several of their references. If you can not contact at least 3-5 of their references, then you can be sure they are lying to you. 5. Call their offices outside of normal business hours. Leave a message on their answering service. See how quickly they return your call (if at all). 6. Last and certainly not least - NEVER go ANYWHERE unless you are accompanied by someone who can physically protect you. You can also augment this activity by calling the local police department of where you're going, letting them know you're about to visit so-and-so, and you've never been there, and you want the police to know the physical address, phone number, and full name of the person you're visiting, just in case something happens. And don't be shy to tell the agency/producer you're going to do this. Any reputable agency/producer would not mind, unless they have something to hide. As usual - feel free to contact us in case you have questions, concerns, or complaints about anyone on the system. Good luck and we wish you success in all of your efforts and endeavours.
