Blog : Photographers / Photographers Seeking Advice

LINDSAY [9/4/2008 7:38:20 PM] : I know some photographers work for agencies but that sort of requires you having an amazing - perfect - portfolio - where any one of the pictures could easily be in a magazine editorial. Other than that - once you get a great reputation you could start by offering a model a test shoot - where your time is free but she has to pay $10-15 per print - some photographers charge higher - but they have been doing it for 20 plus years. Also - if you have a stock of photography you may be able to sell it online somehow. Also - commercial photography seems to be where most photographers make some dough but do the model side of things for fun.
XOXMASPB [ 7/29/2008 11:56:45 PM ] : Hey, thanks for taking the time to look. I have been posting on sites like this one: Net-model, Premiermodels, OMP, musecube, the works. People i spoke to told me that they get a minimum of 5 paid offers a week, and yet in the last few months all i've gotten was a few tfp offers. any suggestions as to what i could do better get myself "out there?" please keep in mind that i am still in college, so POOR is just a subtle way to describe it (my family except for my grandfather doesn't really support this, and he just wants me to do what makes me happy. so everything i do i have to save up for myself, except printing family pictures) so i am looking for a preferably inexpensive way to get more gigs. doesn't have to be work with models either. I do just about everything. Is there even such a thing as an agency for photographers? thanks for your input. Alexei
